Domaine Alone

Domaine Alône
- red wine -

The red wines are vinified on a parcel-by-parcel basis to bring out all the subtlety of this sandy terroir...

cepage alone

Alône red wines embody our vision of a cuvée freed from conventional frameworks. On this off-the-beaten-track vineyard, we favor Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grape varieties, capable of offering beautiful aromatic complexity.

In the cellar, we opt for a gentle, parcel-by-parcel vinification, followed by mixed aging: one part ages in ceramic and porcelain spheres to preserve the purity of the fruit, while the other rests in wooden foudres to bring depth and elegance. The result? Red wines of finesse, with fruity notes (red fruits, black fruits) and delicate spicy notes. Here, we aim above all for the authenticity of a cuvée that reflects the very soul of the estate and the richness of a preserved nature.

The vintages

domaine alone rouge 2021

Cuvée 2021

Identity

Made from 100% Grenache, half destemmed, this wine boasts a brilliant ruby-red color. Its first, highly perfumed nose reveals aromas of stewed strawberries, violets and peony, enhanced by light spicy notes (Sichuan pepper). On the palate, delicate fragrances combine with intense, juicy fruitiness, followed by a creamy, lingering finish.

Breeding

Individual vinification respects the identity of each batch, before maturing on fine lees in ceramic spheres, porcelain and wooden tuns. This dual process preserves the fruit's brilliance while developing a unique depth and refinement, marking the uniqueness of this 2021 vintage.

Service & wine pairing

We recommend decanting Cuvée 2021 several hours before tasting, to fully release its fruity notes and floral aromas. Ideally serve between 16°C and 18°C, with grilled red meats, stewed dishes or soft cheeses. This subtle, gourmet approach reveals the soul of an Alône red from a delicately balanced vintage.

domaine alone cuvee ovatus

Cuvée Ovatus (2022)

Available October 2025

Identity

Made from 100% whole-harvest Grenache grapes, this cuvée is distinguished by its extraordinary aromatic intensity. The nose reveals fruity notes of blood orange and ripe red fruit. On the palate, freshness dominates, while the structure remains light and elegant.

Breeding

Ovatus benefits from a double ageing process: part of the wine rests in ceramic spheres to preserve the fruit's brilliance, while the other spends a few months in barrels to add complexity. This deliberate choice reflects the philosophy of our winery, which aims to strike a balance between modernity and tradition.

Service & wine pairing

Serve Ovatus at 16-18°C to bring out its subtle aromas. A light decanting (30 min) can unfold its citrus and mild spice notes. Ideal with roast poultry, grilled vegetables or soft cheese.

domaine alone cuvee tompine

Cuvée Tompine (2022)

Available October 2025

Identity

45% Syrah, 45% Cinsault, 10% Grenache, Tompine is a red wine with spicy, fruity notes. On the first nose, you'll discover scents of black fruit and raspberry, followed by hints of black pepper and garrigue, typical of a red wine.

Breeding

The grapes are vinified as whole bunches, to preserve freshness and tension on the palate. Controlled maceration, followed by ageing in stainless steel vats, gives the wine a lovely roundness, without masking its deep character.

Service & wine pairing

Tompine expresses itself fully after decanting for around 1 hour, allowing the tasting notes (red fruits, spices) to blossom. Perfect with beef, Mediterranean dishes or vegetable tagine. Its balance also makes it an ideal ally for mature cheeses.

Vintage
- climatic context and terroir -

Each vintage at Domaine Alône is intimately linked to the year's climatic conditions. In our Var hillsides, summers are hot and sunny, while at night, temperatures drop sufficiently to preserve the acidity of the grapes. Thermal amplitude plays a major role in the aromatic intensity and finesse of the red wines produced.

Type of season

A drier season favors the concentration of red fruit and spicy notes, while a slightly wetter year can bring additional freshness.

Impact on maturity

Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes gradually reach full maturity, revealing the full diversity of our terroir. Harvesting is carefully planned to capture the exact moment when the palate displays the perfect balance of acidity, tannins and fruity aromas.

The key to the harvest

At the end of September, we harvest by hand to preserve the quality of each bunch. It's this attention to detail, from the vine to the cellar, that gives our wines their distinctive identity and real ageing potential, to the delight of red wine lovers.

Commitment and respect for the earth

For our red wines, as for all our production, our approach is based on biodynamic principles. We limit the use of inputs to the strict minimum, using lunar cycles to plan work in the vineyard and cellar. From Grenache to Syrah and Cinsault, each grape variety is cultivated with the aim of magnifying fruit notes and finesse on the palate, rather than forcing the vines to overproduce.

hand harvesting domaine alone

Manual harvesting

The bunches are harvested by hand, guaranteeing rigorous sorting and optimal freshness. This artisanal approach, inherited from traditional know-how, helps preserve the natural balance of the vines and underscores the authenticity of a red from a winegrowing estate sensitive to the challenges of sustainability.

Minimalism in the cellar

Beyond the vineyard, we also take care to reduce the footprint of our interventions in the cellar. Fermentations start with indigenous yeasts, limiting the addition of external products. This commitment reinforces the pure expression of the sandy terroir, offering unique notes that distinguish our cuvées.
